The copper found in the UP comes out of the ground 99% pure. The 1% of impurities consists of Gold, Silver, Platinum.

Our tour guide explains how the old drills worked

A three man crew worked by the light of a single candle. One man held the drill and rotated it a quarter turn after each hit while the other two took turns swinging the sledge hammer.
