A bear PiƱata
Taking an alternate approach for our bear bag since the bear pole was bent over. It's a good thing that Mike was prepared with enough rope.
Lunch at the edge of a cliff
Wouldn't it be nice to have this view everyday while eating your lunch!
Hooked up to the safety lines
We needed to use our safety harness in some sections of the mine. One clip facing down and the other clip facing up.
Practice makes perfect
We received instruction and practiced using the equipment and the proper technique before going down the 80 foot mine shaft.
Copper
The copper found in the UP comes out of the ground 99% pure. The 1% of impurities consists of Gold, Silver, Platinum.
Our tour guide explains how the old drills worked
A three man crew worked by the light of a single candle. One man held the drill and rotated it a quarter turn after each hit while the other two took turns swinging the sledge hammer.
